LEGO Super Mario Bowsers Muscle Car

Today, we’re diving into the LEGO Super Mario Bowsers Muscle Car set, a surprise addition to my collection. I picked this up on a whim last week while shopping for Christmas goodies, and it turned out to be a delightful and engaging build.

Set Details and Value for Money

This set cost me £17.99 during a special deal on Amazon, which is still the current price. With 458 pieces, the LEGO Super Mario Bowser’s Muscle Car offers excellent value for money. If your budget allows, I highly recommend adding this unique set to your collection.

Unboxing the LEGO Super Mario Bowser’s Muscle Car

The box design immediately caught my eye—vibrant, bold, and unmistakably Super Mario. As a fan of LEGO cars, I was drawn to this set, especially since it came with no stickers. (Applying stickers is my least favourite part of LEGO builds!) Inside, there are four numbered bags, making the process smooth and well-organised.

Building Experience

The build begins with assembling the Bowser figure that sits in the car. This section was particularly engaging thanks to the varied use of coloured bricks, a refreshing change from the monotone pieces common in sets like Star Wars. The Bowser character is closer in style to LEGO BrickHeadz, which adds a fun and distinctive touch.

Next, the focus shifts to the muscle car itself. I was surprised by the car’s size—it’s more substantial than expected for a set priced at £17.99. While the colour palette was less varied in this phase, the build remained enjoyable, especially since this car isn’t based on a real-world vehicle, allowing for more creative freedom.

Play Features and Design Highlights

The LEGO Super Mario Bowser’s Muscle Car stands out with its dynamic features. The set includes two Mario Kart-style bombs that can be launched from the car’s boot using a lever. Pulling the lever also lifts the car’s front face, adding an interactive and playful element to the build.

While there are no minifigures in this set, Bowser’s BrickHeadz-style design compensates for it. The vibrant colours and quirky details make this model a standout addition to any Super Mario or LEGO car collection.

Build Time and Challenges

The build took me about an hour to complete, even on my makeshift folding table in the living room (where my dogs occasionally disrupted the process). Despite the simplicity of the build, the experience was relaxing and fun.

Final Thoughts on LEGO Super Mario Bowser’s Muscle Car

Overall, the LEGO Super Mario Bowser’s Muscle Car is an excellent set for both kids and adults. While it’s not the most complex build, its unique design, vibrant colours, and fun play features make it a worthy addition to any collection. It’s a refreshing change from more traditional or realistic LEGO cars and has inspired me to explore more Super Mario sets.

With LEGO releasing a new Super Mario range on 1st January 2025, I’m excited to expand my collection and build a complete Super Mario theme. If you’re a fan of LEGO cars, Super Mario, or both, the LEGO Super Mario Bowser’s Muscle Car is a must-have!
